Rolex Oyster "Commander" wristwatch in stainless steel. Brown leather band. Original dial with Arabic numerals. Case size: 28mm. Manual winding. FHF calibre 59. Jewels: 15. Water resistant case. Power reserve: 40 hour. Circa 1942. Ref: 3478.
These watches were made by Rolex for the Canadian soldiers destined for Europe who were to be fighting in the Second World War. They required something reliable and durable. This model is very rare due to the fact that most of them were lost or never returned, hence the rarity of this model.
